Experiences from attraction

Description

Escape the bustling city and take a scenic drive to Al Qudra Lakes, a remarkable series of artificial lakes nestled in Dubai's desert. Located within the expansive Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, this desert oasis is surprisingly accessible from the city center, providing a serene contrast to Dubai's impressive skyline.

Visitors can also explore Love Lake Dubai, a nearby attraction featuring two large interconnected heart-shaped lakes, offering waterfront views of stunning desert sunsets. Food enthusiasts can savor a variety of dishes from nearby food trucks or pack a picnic for a leisurely outdoor dining experience. For those seeking adventure, Al Qudra Cycling Track provides an opportunity for a relaxed bike ride amid the picturesque lakes.

Best Time to Visit:

You can visit Al Qudra Lakes year-round, but the most comfortable temperatures are during the winter season, from October to March. Early mornings are ideal for a peaceful experience with fewer crowds. However, you can visit at any time of day, bearing in mind that evenings are popular for enjoying the spectacular sunset over Dubai's skyline. Be prepared for cooler temperatures after dark in the winter.

Wildlife and Bird Watching:

Al Qudra Lakes offer a unique chance to spot native Dubai wildlife in their natural habitat, including desert foxes, oryx, and over 170 bird species. You can observe swans, geese, ducks, flamingos, and more. Some of these species, such as the steppe eagle and the Asian houbara, are endangered. The cooler months are the best for wildlife sightings, although animals can be seen year-round. Dawn is the prime time for wildlife spotting, as it's quieter and cooler, regardless of the season.

Requirements and tips

Most popular lakes like Flamingo, Expo and Love (marked on the map) are accessible on any type of car.

Our review

Great places to meet wildlife in person: numerous birds, antelopes, rodents, lizards, insects, scorpions and much more! Doesn’t sound to exciting? Well, don’t worry, as long as you keep to commonly used areas/roads and don’t go deeper in desert after sunset, you’ll only be able to see birds and antelopes at max. Finding everything else will require an actual searching, but it is definitely possible. Awesome area to spend time with kids, and a lot of people are doing so here. Lots of tents on weekends. One of the things I would definitely recommend doing if you’re tired of concrete, noise and lights of the big city.
